Robert Justice receives Navy medal

Army Reserve Chief Warrant Officer 2nd Class Robert L. Justice was recently decorated with the Navy Achievement Medal. He is the son of Ken Matlock of Colville, and Jackie Cool of Chewelah, Wash., and is a 1988 graduate of Colville High School and a 1992 graduate of Calhoun State College.

•A handful of local residents were honored during the Community Colleges of Spokane’s April meeting.

Karen Kelly, executive director of Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital Foundation, and David Bosch, director of Financial Security, a division of Northwest Farmer-Stockman Inc., were honored by the CCS Board of Trustees in observance of National Volunteer Month.

Kelly was honored for her service as volunteer guest moderator of Community College Connections, and Bosch was recognized for his work on the CCS Foundation Board of Directors.

• Carol Land-McVicker, chairwoman of the CCS Board of Trustees, was named Woman of Distinction for 2005 by Soroptimist International in Spokane. The award recognizes women with outstanding achievements in professional, business, and volunteer activities.

• The following students from the University of Idaho were recently named to the UI Chapter of Phi Eta Sigma: Catherine Kolva, Newman Lake; Laura McClinton, Spokane; Benjamin Sanders, Spokane; Diana Duncan, Tekoa, Wash.; and Katherine Budd, Uniontown, Wash.

• Nick Wiley of Spokane has received a scholarship from the National Alliance of State Drug Enforcement Agencies. He is the son of Richard and Deanna Wiley, and will attend Digipen Institute of Technology pursuing a degree in production animation.
