DanceFest planned Saturday at SCC

All things related to the world of dance will be celebrated on Saturday at DanceFest 2005 at Spokane Community College.

The free event, presented by the Inland Northwest Dance Association in honor of National Dance Week, runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in SCC’s Lair Building. Among the activities:

•An entertainment stage presenting performances ranging from the Coeur d’Alene Tribal Wellness Center Dancers to the Spokane Hmong Girls to the Spokane Swing Club.

•An instruction area for adults with lessons in the likes of cha cha and contra, Scottish and tango.

•A kids’ dance room teaching youngsters everything from tap to ballet to hip-hop styles.

There also will be an art gallery tracing the history of dance in Spokane; a health and wellness area offering information both dance-related and general; booths by arts and crafts vendors and nonprofit organizations; a silent auction; and a spaghetti feed geared to Sunday’s Bloomsday run.
