Good Neighbor contest extended

Steven R. Neuman Staff writer

With the Good Neighbor contest approaching deadline, The Spokesman-Review has received only a third of the entries we had last year at this time. To give everyone a chance we’re extending the deadline. Now you have until next Thursday to recognize that special neighbor who goes above and beyond in your neighborhood.

Type, e-mail or write down the best traits of someone who makes a group of tenants a neighborhood.

The three good neighbors to be honored can be young or old; new arrivals who fixed up an overlooked house; or fixtures of the neighborhood who are the first to welcome the family next door over for dinner.

Our judges will pick three neighbors from one of the three neighborhoods – North Side, South Side and Spokane Valley – who personify the best of the best, and reward them with a catered block party your whole neighborhood can appreciate.

Know an exceptional person, couple or family who can make you feel like you’re part of their family, let us know. Write to us and don’t skimp on the details. If you told us about someone in the past who didn’t make the cut, now is the time to resubmit them.

Be sure to tell us why they should be the one chosen for acknowledgment. Tell us what they do to help you or others in your neighborhood.

And tell us in 250 words or less before the extended deadline, next Thursday.

While we can choose just one winner from each part of town, we will run a list of all the nominations we receive.
