RiverHawks end season with 3-0 loss

Jon Hee was 3 for 4 and drove in one run to lead the Wenatchee AppleSox to a 3-0 West Coast Collegiate Baseball League victory over the visiting Spokane RiverHawks, ending the RiverHawks’ season.

Wenatchee broke through for three runs in the seventh inning.

Colleges

The Gonzaga University men’s and women’s soccer teams were each picked to finish seventh in preseason polls released by the West Coast Conference on Wednesday, while the volleyball team was picked to finish eighth.

Portland is the preseason favorites in women’s soccer, while Santa Clara is the front-runner in men’s soccer.

San Diego and Pepperdine share top honors in the volleyball poll.

Golf

Molly Fuhs of Spokane lost in the semifinals at the PNGA Junior Girls Championship tournament at Meadow Springs Country Club in Richland.

Fuhs beat Lauren Roberts of Allyn, Wash., 4 and 2, in the quarterfinals before losing to Natalie Weber of Bend, Ore., 6 and 4, in the semifinals.

•Gonzaga University’s Mary Kate Morgan shot a second-round 85 Tuesday and failed to make the cut at the North and South Women’s Amateur Championship at Pinehurst, N.C.
