Red Sox 10, Tigers 7 (10): At Detroit, David Ortiz and Jason Varitek both homered twice and drove in four runs, and Boston scored seven times in the 10th inning to beat the Tigers.

Indians 8, Rangers 2: At Cleveland, Ronnie Belliard hit a three-run double to snap a seventh-inning tie and Jhonny Peralta homered twice for the Indians, who handed Texas its eighth straight loss.

Devil Rays 4, Yankees 3 (11): At St. Petersburg, Fla., Eduardo Perez tied it in the bottom of the ninth inning with his second homer of the game and Jonny Gomes walked with the bases loaded with two outs in the 11th to give Tampa Bay the victory over New York.

Twins 9, White Sox (16): At Chicago, Shannon Stewart started a five-run 16th inning with an RBI single and Lew Ford ended it with one of his own, leading Minnesota over the White Sox.

Orioles 4, Athletics 3: At Oakland, Calif., Brian Roberts scored the go-ahead run in the seventh inning on an error, and Rafael Palmeiro added a pair of hits to lead Baltimore over the Athletics.

Blue Jays 4, Angels 3: At Anaheim, Calif., closer Francisco Rodriguez walked Corie Koskie with the bases loaded in the ninth inning, and Frank Catalanotto followed with a sacrifice fly, lifting Toronto over the Angels.

National League

Padres 4, Marlins 2: At Miami, Miguel Olivo tripled and Mark Loretta doubled in a three-run sixth inning as San Diego beat Florida.

Nationals vs. Phillies, ppd.: Washington’s game at Philadelphia was rained out and rescheduled for a day-night doubleheader Thursday. The first game will start at 10:05 a.m. (PDT), and the second at 4:05 p.m.

Mets 6, Pirates 2: At New York, Kris Benson recovered from a shaky start and hit a two-run single against his former team, pitching the Mets to a victory over Pittsburgh.

Giants 10, Reds 8: At Cincinnati, Deivi Cruz and Pedro Feliz each went 5 for 5 to set career highs, and San Francisco came from behind to overpower the Reds. Cruz fell a triple short of the cycle, and Feliz a home run short.

Dodgers 6, Braves 4: At Atlanta, Olmeda Saenz drove in two runs with a pinch-hit single in the ninth and Los Angeles rallied for the win over Braves closer Chris Reitsma.

Cubs 4, Astros 1: At Houston, Greg Maddux outdueled Andy Pettitte for seven innings, and Aramis Ramirez homered and doubled twice to help Chicago snap a six-game road losing streak and beat the Astros.

Cardinals 8, Diamondbacks 2: At St. Louis, So Taguchi matched career highs with four hits and three RBIs, and Jeff Suppan pitched seven strong innings to win for the third time in four starts as the Cardinals defeated Arizona.

Brewers 6, Rockies 4: At Denver, Victor Santos earned his second win in 14 starts, and Wes Helms homered and drove in two runs to lead Milwaukee over Colorado. Rickie Weeks also homered for the Brewers.
