Herren’s HR lifts Spokane

The Spokesman-Review

KEIZER, Ore. – The Spokane Indians hope they aren’t quite finished with the Northwest League’s West Division.

K.C. Herren’s two-out, two-run homer to right field in the seventh inning Tuesday night gave the Indians a 3-2 win over Salem-Keizer to complete a five-game series at Volcanoes Stadium.

Spokane (29-32) won the series 3-2 and the season series 6-4. The East Division-leading Indians also wrapped up their regular-season schedule against West teams with a 21-19 record.

If Spokane holds its lead while playing East teams for the final 15 games, it will meet the West champion in the league playoffs.

Spokane pitchers Kellan McConnell, Jesse Hall (2-3), Nate Fogle and Jon Wilson (ninth save) allowed just two baserunners after the second inning.

Joseph Hooft singled to open the seventh, with the Indians trailing 2-1. Herren, batting from the left side, homered on a 1-2 pitch from left-hander Alexander Hinshaw (0-1).
