NC grad crowned state’s Miss Teen

Amy Dryden of Spokane was recently named Miss Washington Teen. Dryden, the daughter of Bob and Linda Dryden of Spokane, is a 2005 graduate of North Central High School. She will attend the 2005 National Miss American Teen competition this fall. Dryden plans to attend Spokane Falls Community College in the fall.

• Several area students have been awarded scholarships for the 2005-2006 school year at Eastern Washington University.

Rachel Charbonneau of Rockford, a 2001 graduate of Freeman High School, received a $2,500 R.G. Andrus Trust Scholarship. Charbonneau, who is studying education, is the daughter of Nancy and Merv Lewis of Rockford.

Burke Fitzpatrick of Four Lakes, a graduate student in creative writing, received a $500 Patrick and Darlene McManus Scholarship. Fitzpatrick, the son of Darla and Daniel Fitzpatrick of Four Lakes, is a 1996 graduate of Cheney High School.

Jessica Hinson of Medical Lake, a 2005 graduate of Medical Lake High School, received a $1,150 Omer Pence Scholarship. Hinson, the daughter of Tammy and Joseph Hinson of Medical Lake, is studying education.

Danielle Knapp of Medical Lake, a 2002 graduate of Medical Lake High School, received a $325 Hanrahan/Swerer/Wiley Scholarship. Knapp, who is studying art history, is the daughter of Wendi and Dan Simmons of Medical Lake.

Amanda Lucas of Cheney, who is studying dental hygiene, received a $1,500 Whittenbach Scholarship. Lucas, the daughter of Diana Kimball of Cheney and William Lucas of Spokane, is a 2002 graduate of Cheney High School.

Angela McNaught-Davis of Medical Lake received a $1,000 Alumni Scholarship and a $600 Nicholas Curtis Scholarship.

McNaught-Davis, a 1999 graduate of Medical Lake High School, is the daughter of Lynnette Jensen of Medical Lake and the late Stan McNaught-Davis. She is a graduate student studying psychology.

Crystal Reiber of Airway Heights, a 2002 graduate of Cheney High School, received a $1,000 Cheney Realty Scholarship. Reiber, the daughter of Sandra and Ken Reiber of Airway Heights, is studying elementary education.

David Simon of Cheney, a 2005 graduate of Cheney High School, received a $3,000 Academic Honors Scholarship. Simon, the son of Rosalie Simon of Cheney, is studying computer science.

Regina Thompson of Cheney, who is studying biochemistry and biotechnology, received a $1,000 J. Herman and Jean Swartz Biotechnology Scholarship. Thompson, a 2003 graduate of Mt. Spokane High School, is the daughter of Mary Engstrom and Rodney Thompson of Cheney.

Sarah Young of Medical Lake, a 2005 graduate of Christian Heritage School, received a $2,000 Presidential Scholarship. Young, the daughter of Donella and William Young of Medical Lake, is studying dental hygiene.

• Two area residents recently graduated from the Army Reserve Officer Training Corps Leader Development and Assessment Course at Fort Lewis.

Julie Marsh, the daughter of Howard and Karen Marsh of Cheney, is a 2002 graduate of Cheney High School. She is currently attending Gonzaga University.

Jonathan Pritchard, a 2002 graduate of Mt. Spokane High School, is the son of Russel and Gay Pritchard of Mead. He is currently attending Whitworth College.
