Local Question of the Day — 12/1/05

Issue: Sex offender quits job after protest: Sandpoint library had hired woman as circulation attendant / Taryn Brodwater , Spokesman-Review

DFO: No question that a sex offender shouldn’t be checking out books to children in a public library. However, they have to do something to make a living and try to get on with life.

Question: What kind of jobs can a sex offender do to enable them to try to put his/her life back together?

Feedback: With crimes of this sort, I usually try to look at the offender this way…what if I was related to them in some way, what if they were my father/mother/father-in-law/brother/sister? It changes my perception just enough to let them have another chance — Toadmaster.
