Bill McC Catches Idaho Officials in Hypocrisy
re: “A New York company is suing Idaho after posting the best bid to manage the Gem’s State’s massive road construction program only to lose the contract to a Boise firm with strong Republican political ties here — Huckleberries Best of the Northwest, No. 4, Friday.
In the Saturday Spokesman Review there’s an article headlined: Contract dispute mars highway plan . It’s a follow-on to the story noted above. There’s some irony, no, hypocrisy, noted later in today’s story. Here are two paragraphs:
“‘The Legislature would, for the most part, prefer to see contracts with Idaho companies that have a significant employment base in the state,’ said Sen. Joe Stegner, R-Lewiston. ‘I don’t think that’s an unreasonable or illogical assumption.’ ”
Three grafs later: “The state Transportation Department has hired a Los Angeles law firm to defend it against Parsons Brinckerhoff’s challenge.”
Idaho’s highway builders are good enough for Idahoans but its attorneys are not?
