‘Little Mermaid’ auditions scheduled
The Spokane Children’s Theatre is holding auditions for its original production of “The Little Mermaid: A Story of Aloha” on Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Spokane Community College Lair auditorium, 1810 N. Greene St. Director Maria Caprile has re-imagined the Hans Christian Andersen tale and set it in 1889 Hawaii.
Needed are 20 girls ages 6 and up and eight boys ages 8 and up to play mermaids, hula dancers, surfers and peacocks. There also are speaking roles for adult men and women.
Auditioners should come prepared to move and men will be asked to sing a song, which will be taught at the audition. Hula dance experience is desired, but not required.

More auditions
The Woodland Theater, 120 W. Third Ave., Kettle Falls, Wash., is holding auditions for the musical “My Fair Lady” on Saturday at noon.
One woman is needed to play ages 19 to 25, and another for a nonsinging role aged 40 to 50. Three men ages 40 to 55 are needed; two of those roles are nondancing.
Auditioners should prepare a one-minute monologue and a song no longer than one minute. The song must be a show tune, not from “My Fair Lady,” and a copy of the sheet music is required for the accompanist.
Also needed are chorus members, who only need to come to the audition prepared to sing and dance.

•The Tinman Gallery, 811 W. Garland Ave., is offering a lampworking demonstration Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. Ken Frybarger will demonstrate glass-marble making skills.

•The Timber Stand Gallery, 334 N. First Ave., Sandpoint, is taking reservations for a beginning art class taught by Diana Moses Botkin on Jan. 12 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The class will cover painting and focus on pastels. The cost is $50, which will include lunch and a couple of glasses of wine.
