Send 7 your holiday songs – with fresh lyrics or all new

The Spokesman-Review

Attention, musicians and/or poets: Back by popular demand is our Holiday Song Contest.

If you have the holiday blues or muse, this could be just the remedy. We’re asking readers to submit new holiday songs in two categories to be judged by our music critics.

New Lyrics for an Old Song: Take any existing familiar holiday tune and write new lyrics. The new lyrics also must have a holiday theme. Just mail or e-mail your new lyrics, along with the name of the song you are using as a melody.

We will judge them on creativity and overall quality.

Original Holiday Song: Write a holiday-themed song, and submit it on audiotape, videotape, CD or as a sound attachment to an e-mail. Include a copy of the song’s lyrics with your entry.

Audio versions of selected songs will be posted at www.spokane7.com.

Winning entries in each category receive a prize. Other top picks will be included in a story that will appear in 7 just before Christmas.

Send entries to: 7 Holiday Song Contest, The Spokesman-Review, P.O. Box 2160, Spokane, WA 99210, or to isamuj@spokane7.com.

Include your name, address and phone number.

Entries must be received by Friday.
