And the survey says … ‘Flux sux’

Dan

“Aeon Flux” is receiving a wide range of opinions. Take this one, for instance, from Tom Maurstad of The Dallas Morning News : “There’s no way to say it but to come right out with it: ‘Aeon Flux’ is a good movie. Actually, it’s a really good movie..”

OK, and when that guy comes down from the popcorn fumes, we’ll start reading him again.

On the other hand, there’s this from one of my favorites, online critic Mark Ramsey (aka Moviejuice) :

“This movie skipped the traditional critics’ screening because, well, who are we kidding? Normally, a film of this caliber features a badly animated saber-tooth tiger and David Keith in safari gear.”

Some others ( thank you MRQE ):

Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly : “(T)he movie, while not as cheesy-bad as, say, ‘Daredevil,’ has far more motion than imagination. Theron plays Aeon as a reluctant cipher who yearns to get back to a real existence. By the end, you’ll know the feeling.”

Roger Moore, Orlando Sentinel (and TeenHollywood.com): “The movie has no sex, little skin and only a couple of decent catfights, nothing we didn’t see once a week on TV’s ‘Alias’ when Jennifer Garner wasn’t pregnant.”

A.O. Scott, the New York Times : “As it all approaches a hectic climax, Mr. Postlethwaite - whose role in this I will not even begin to try to explain - remarks, ‘I’ve been waiting 400 years for this day.’ I knew how he felt, though I’d only been there for an hour and a half.”

E Online! : “(Y)ou know a sci-fi action film is failing when even the outfits are bad. Flux sucks.”
