Republic earns 29th straight league win
Derek Gianukakis had 28 points and 17 rebounds as Republic opened its Panorama League season with its 29th consecutive league win, a 72-51 victory over visiting Wellpinit on Friday night.
Zach Gianukakis added 25 points and nine rebounds for the Tigers (1-1, 1-0), who outrebounded the Redskins 40-24. Todd Orestad chipped in with 10 points.
Jake Green scored 21 points to lead Wellpinit (1-1, 0-1), and Chazz Flett added 16.
In other Panorama openers, Cody Groth had 19 points and nine assists as Curlew defeated visiting Inchelium 72-62. Tyler Carlson added 16 points for the Cougars (3-0, 1-0), while Cody Peone led the Hornets (0-3, 0-1) with 23 points and nine rebounds. Lance Ragan added 17 points and 13 rebounds for Inchelium. … Tucker Guglielmino scored 21 points and Northport (2-2, 1-0) routed visiting Columbia (0-1, 0-1) 81-34.
