In the process of writing a story about the ongoing North by Northwest production centering on Terry Trueman’s novel “Stuck in Neutral,” I interviewed director Juan Mas. And he explained that the vision he has for the film was influenced by the paintings of Edward Hopper . Especially the one below, which is titled “Nighthawks.”
Below : It’s almost a cliché, but Edward Hopper’s haunting painting “Nighthawks” is the closest thing to a film noir this side of “Out of the Past.”
