Sattin’s late free throw sends Knights past Vikings

Dylan Sattin’s free throw with eight seconds left gave East Valley a dramatic 69-68 win over Coeur d’Alene in non-league basketball action Saturday at East Valley.

Sattin, who hit four 3-pointers, drove to the hoop and got fouled with eight seconds left and the game tied at 68. He made 1 of 2 free throws to give the Knights (3-3) the win.

Sattin finished with a game-high 21 points. Chase Courchaine chipped in with 15 points and Austin Wardsworth added 11 as the Knights finished 21 of 43 from the free-throw line.

Nate Bligh led the Vikings (3-4) with 20 points, including a pair of 3-pointers. Matt Palmer chipped in with 12 points, and Cody Smith added 11 points as CdA took just 18 free throws, hitting eight.

The Vikings took 32 3-point shots, hitting seven.

In other non-league action, Cody Line had 20 points and nine rebounds as Moscow trailed 12-2 in the first quarter, but rallied for a 63-52 non-league basketball victory over La Grande (Ore.) at Moscow. Shane Miller added 16 points for the Bears (3-1), who were 14 for 23 from the foul line in the fourth quarter. Ben Pettit led La Grande with a game-high 20 points. … Tyler Hobbs finished with 18 points and 12 rebounds as West Valley routed Sandpoint 78-48 in non-league action at West Valley. E.J. Richardson had 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Greg Bradley added another 13 for West Valley (5-1), which made 15 of 27 free throws. The Bears were just 5 of 13. Chase Lowther led Sandpoint (4-2) with 11 points. … Beau Blewett, Jordan Gregg and Nate Ebel all had 13 points as five Bengals finished in double-figures to lead Lewiston (3-0) to a 79-43 victory over Clarkston (1-5) at Lewiston. Bo Gregg added 11 points and Shane Moser added 10 points for Lewiston. Cary Conklin led Clarkston with 14 points, and Clayton Johnson added 11. … Kyle Turpin had a game-high 29 points and blocked six shots as Post Falls (4-2) pulled away in the fourth quarter to beat Bonners Ferry (2-4) 65-53 at Post Falls. Joe Bodman added 12 points and Brandon Haas and Spencer Pingel 10 each for the Trojans. Bonners was led by Matt Rice’s 14 points. … Josh Masterson’s jumper from the free-throw line at the buzzer missed, allowing Orofino to escape St. Maries with a 51-49 victory. Zech Szalasi scored 26 of his game-high 30 points in the second half for St. Maries (1-6). … Mikki Cromwell had 20 points as Selkirk (6-2) routed Clark Fork (2-4) 55-28 at Selkirk. Travis Zimmerman added 15 points and 10 rebounds for Selkirk, while Brian Young led the Wampus Cats with seven points.

Jesse Garner had 12 points and Ryan Ross eight points and six rebounds, but it wasn’t enough as Chelan was 9 for 11 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter en route to a 56-53 non-league win at Chewelah (0-4). … In other non-league action, Ben Aune, Adam Bruya and Brian Danaher each had 12 points as Colfax (4-0) beat Moses Lake Christian Academy 55-43 at Moses Lake. … Chris Davis went 5 for 8 from behind the 3-point line and finished with 19 points and five assists as Freeman (4-2) beat Lake Roosevelt 75-58 at Freeman. DeAngelo Casto added 13 points and 14 rebounds – eight offensive – for the Scotties, who outrebounded Lake Roosevelt 47-37.

Chase Ramey and Derek Iranon finished with 17 points apiece as Northwest Christian (4-1, 4-1) beat Odessa (5-1, 3-1) 66-49 in Bi-County League action at Odessa. Karl Richardson added 14 points for NWC, while David Johnson led Odessa with 16 points. … Travis Teaford had 17 points as Reardan (2-1, 2-1) routed Davenport 63-29 at Davenport. No player for Davenport (1-4, 1-4) reached double figures in scoring. … Cameron Stevenson had 22 of his 29 points in the first half as Lind-Ritzville (3-3, 2-3) hit nine 3-pointers en route to a 78-55 win over Sprague-Harrington (0-7, 0-5) 78-55 at Lind.
