Idaho football adds Fa’avae, Franks for ‘06
The University of Idaho football team has added a pair of junior college transfers who are expected to enroll in January and participate in spring drills.
Defensive lineman George Fa’avae had 79 tackles, 12.5 sacks and forced three fumbles for L.A. Harbor College.
“He was big-time for us,” L.A. Harbor line coach Eljuan Jones said of the 6-foot-2, 255-pound Fa’avae.
Defensive back/receiver Stanley Franks, 5-11 and 170 pounds, caught 62 passes for 778 yards and eight touchdowns for Long Beach (Calif.) City College.
The Vandals also have received oral commitments from Mariner High (Everett) running back Raymond Fry and Woodinville (Wash.) High defensive lineman Aaron Lavarias. Fry was named to the Associated Press 4A all-state first team and The Seattle Times’ all-state team. Mead High linebacker Pete Senescall, who committed to the Vandals in August, joined Fry on the AP and Times’ first teams.
Fry told The Times he picked Idaho over Eastern Washington. He ran for 336 yards in one game and finished the season with 1,654 rushing yards.
Lavarias, 6-3 and 230, played tackle for Woodinville.
