Florida manhandles 11th-ranked Alabama

David Lee, Anthony Roberson and Matt Walsh each scored 18 points Saturday to lead Florida past No. 11 Alabama 85-54 in Gainesville, Fla., the Gators’ largest victory against a ranked opponent.

Freshman Al Horford pulled down 18 rebounds for the Gators (14-5, 6-2 Southeastern Conference), who blew it open early with a 15-0 run.

Earnest Shelton and Chuck Davis had 15 points apiece to pace Alabama (17-4, 6-2).

Alabama saw its six-game winning streak snapped.

(3) Kansas 78, Nebraska 65: Keith Langford matched his career high with 27 points and the Jayhawks (18-1, 8-0 Big 12) held the Cornhuskers (10-9, 3-5) without a field goal for more than six minutes late in the game in a victory in Lincoln, Neb.

(4) Duke 82, (25) Georgia Tech 65: J.J. Redick had 17 of his 26 points in the first half and Shelden Williams got his fifth straight double-double, helping the Blue Devils (17-2, 7-2 Atlantic Coast) beat the Yellow Jackets (13-7, 4-5) in Durham, N.C.

(5) Boston College 60, Seton Hall 52: The Eagles (20-0, 9-0 Big East) beat the Pirates (10-9, 2-6) in East Rutherford, N.J., to become the first team in conference history to start the season 20-0. They did it in their last season in the league.

Jared Dudley had 20 points and 14 rebounds for Boston College.

(6) Kentucky 84, Vanderbilt 70: Patrick Sparks, Kelenna Azubuike and Chuck Hayes each scored 15 points, and the Wildcats (17-2, 8-0 SEC) beat the Commodores (13-9, 4-5) in Nashville, Tenn., for their eighth straight victory.

(7) Wake Forest 83, Virginia Tech 63: Taron Downey scored 18 points off the bench to lead the Demon Deacons (19-3, 7-2 ACC) to a victory over the Hokies (12-8, 5-4) in Blacksburg, Va.

(8) Syracuse 60, Notre Dame 57: Gerry McNamara scored 22 points, Hakim Warrick had 20 and the Orangemen (21-2, 8-1 Big East) staged a furious late rally to beat the Fighting Irish (13-6, 5-4) in Syracuse, N.Y., before a record on-campus crowd.

A crowd of 33,199 saw Syracuse rally from a 50-39 deficit over the final 6:05.

(9) Louisville 77, Alabama-Birmingham 73: Francisco Garcia and Juan Palacios both hit two free throws in the final 34 seconds to lift the Cardinals (20-3, 8-1 Conference USA) to a victory over the Blazers (16-6, 6-3) in Birmingham, Ala.

(10) Oklahoma State 81, Baylor 63: John Lucas III scored 11 of his 14 points in the first half to celebrate his final visit to the place where he started his college career, helping the Cowboys (17-3, 7-2 Big 12) to a big early lead in a win over the Bears (9-10, 1-7) in Waco, Texas.

(12) Michigan State 75, Iowa 64: Kelvin Torbert scored 16 points to help the Spartans (15-4, 6-2 Big Ten) hold off a late rally and beat Iowa (15-6, 3-5) in Ames, Iowa, in the Hawkeyes’ first game since leading scorer Pierre Pierce was kicked off the team.

Texas Tech 88, (14) Oklahoma 81: Jarrius Jackson scored a career-high 32 points, Devonne Giles added 17 and the Red Raiders (14-5, 6-2 Big 12) upset the Sooners (17-4, 6-2) in Norman, Okla., snapping Oklahoma’s 14-game home winning streak.

West Virginia 83, (16) Pittsburgh 78 (OT): Kevin Pittsnogle scored eight of his career-high 27 points in overtime to lead the Mountaineers (13-7, 3-6 Big East) to a win over the Panthers (15-4, 5-3) in Morgantown, W.Va.

Pittsnogle, starting for the second time this season, was averaging 8 points a game. He got the start because center D’or Fischer was sick and couldn’t play.

Charlotte 91, (18) Cincinnati 90: Brendan Plavich scored all but two of his 26 points on 3-pointers to lead the 49ers (15-4, 6-2 CUSA) to an upset win over the Bearcats (17-5, 6-3) in Charlotte, N.C.

Plavich made 8 of 17 3-pointers to lead the 49ers in scoring.

Minnesota 60, (19) Wisconsin 50: Vince Grier scored 26 of his career-high 32 points in the second half to lead the Golden Gophers (16-6, 6-3 Big Ten) to a victory over the Badgers (15-5, 6-3) in Minneapolis.

Grier, who hit 2 of 7 field goals in the first half, completely took over the game after the break – going 12 for 14 from the field and matching the Badgers’ second-half total by himself.

Iowa State 92, (20) Texas 80 (OT): Tasheed Carr scored 13 points in overtime and Iowa State (11-8, 3-5) ended a 28-game road losing streak in the Big 12 with a win over the Longhorns (15-6, 4-4) in Austin, Texas.

The Cyclones got their first league road win in nearly four years after Will Blalock sent it into overtime with a short shot in the lane that tied it at 68 with 37 seconds left.

(21) Utah 61, San Diego State 41: Andrew Bogut had 15 points and 13 rebounds, and the Utes (19-3, 7-0 Mountain West Conference) extended their winning streak to 14 games with a win over the Aztecs (9-11, 3-4) in San Diego.

Miami 75, (22) Maryland 73 (OT): Will Frisby made a pair of free throws with 0.8 seconds left in overtime to lift the Hurricanes (14-7, 5-5 ACC) past the Terrapins (13-7, 4-5) in Coral Gables, Fla.

(23) Connecticut 68, St. John’s 46: Rashad Anderson scored 21 points and Josh Boone blocked a career-high nine shots to lead the Huskies (14-5, 6-3 Big East) to a victory over the Red Storm (8-11, 2-7) in Storrs, Conn.

(24) Villanova 89, Providence 81: Curtis Sumpter had 24 points and 13 rebounds, and Allan Ray scored 20 to lead the Wildcats (13-5, 5-4 Big East) to a win over the Friars (11-11, 0-8) in Villanova, Pa.
