Clark Fork, Lakeside garner victories in loser-out games

Tiffany Van Buren hit 5 of 9 3-pointers on her way to a game-high 23 points and the No. 4 seed Clark Fork Wampus Cats rolled to a 56-24 victory over the fifth-seeded Mullan Tigers in a 1A District I girls basketball loser-out game at Lakeland High School on Monday night.

Jolene Meredith and Rashell Trunnell each pulled down nine rebounds for Clark Fork (7-10), which advances to play top-seeded Wallace on Thursday at 6 p.m.

Anali Carrico scored nine points to pace Mullan (2-17).

Clark Fork jumped out to a 21-7 first-quarter lead and was never threatened.

Lakeside (Plummer) 60, Post Falls Christian 32: Corrina Hendrickx scored 11 of her game-high 25 points in the third quarter to propel the Knights (10-8) to a victory over the Eagles (6-14) in the other loser-out game at Lakeland High.

Hendrickx also had six steals and four assists, while Wynonna Johnson added 11 points and six assists.

The Knights, who will take on Kootenai on Thursday night at 7:30, took control with a 10-0 run to open the second half.

Katie Hoye’s 15 points topped PFC.
