Personal bests rule at 30th Vandal Indoor

MOSCOW, Idaho — Several UI track and field athletes set personal bests at the 30th annual Vandal Indoor Friday evening at the Kibbie Dome.

Senior Heather Hoeck won the women’s 400m with a personal-best time of 56.73. Jamie Patten finished fourth in the event in a personal-best time of 57.46. Freshman Megan Garcia set a personal best in the 60m dash, taking third in 7.83.

Other personal bests were turned in by Manuela Kurat (60m hurdles) and Jenn Broncheau and Shanna Lytle (both in the shot put).

On the men’s side, Pat Ray finished third in the 60m dash in a personal-best time of 6.95. Herb Cash finished fourth for the Vandals in 7.02.

Dale Engler placed third in the mile in 4:17.91 and Fred Gomez set a personal best in the event as he came in fifth place in 4:21.18.

Today, the Vandals host the McDonald’s Open at the Kibbie Dome. Events begin at 9 a.m.
