College of Southern Idaho coach suspended after bumping player
College of Southern Idaho men’s basketball coach Gib Arnold was suspended for two games for a run-in with a North Idaho College player during a Saturday, Nov. 12, game in Twin Falls.
Arnold apparently bumped into NIC’s Darin Nagle after Nagle made a 3-pointer near the CSI bench and was running back down court.
The decision to suspend Arnold was handed down by the Scenic West Athletic Conference executive committee Friday, prior to CSI’s weekend games against Salt Lake. CSI lost on Friday but won Saturday.
“I just watched it on film,” NIC athletic director Al Williams said. “It looked pretty deliberate to me.”
“Everyone there would agree it was incidental contact,” Arnold told the Twin Falls News. “It’s frustrating.”
Since the incident involved NIC and CSI, neither school participated in the executive committee’s vote.
