Brother of well-known criminal arrested

Spokane Valley police arrested one man on felony drug charges and announced that his infamous younger brother is yet again wanted by authorities.

Officer Jeff Thurman arrested Freddie J. Hall, 43, of 7425 E. Third, into jail Saturday night on the charge of felony possession of methamphetamine, police spokesman Cpl. Dave Reagan said in a press release.

Hall’s younger brother, Eddie Ray Hall, 40, has new warrants seeking his arrest for failure to comply with his release conditions and possession of a controlled substance, Reagan said.

Eddie Ray Hall, 40, has been arrested at least 48 times, mostly for burglarizing Spokane Valley homes and businesses. Hall was shot in the stomach while trying to break into a Spokane Valley business in 1987 and most of his large intestine was removed.

A 1998 Spokesman-Review article about Hall estimated he had cost society more than $1 million, including money spent on his medical bills, incarceration and public defenders.

Hall was most recently arrested Nov. 10 after he was stopped for speeding in Spokane Valley. He didn’t have a driver’s license and had a drug scale with methamphetamine residue and a stolen credit card when stopped, according to court documents.

As for the elder Hall, Thurman pulled over a car at Fourth and Howe, and recognized Freddie Hall as the passenger, Reagan said.

Thurman learned that Hall had an outstanding warrant for fourth-degree assault. He arrested Hall and then found a small baggie of meth in Hall’s pants pocket, Reagan said.

Thurman also found a baggie of meth on the ground where Hall was standing, Reagan said.

Upon his booking for felony possession, Corrections Officer Philip Pfeifer found two more baggies of meth in Hall’s groin area, Reagan said.
