Stockwell pays big dividends for Post Falls
Scott Stockwell scored 22 points Thursday to lead Post Falls to a 56-40 Inland Empire League boys basketball win over Lakeland at Rathdrum.
The Trojans took a 20-10 lead after one quarter and never looked back.
Stockwell buried three 3-pointers in the third quarter and five in the game.
Ben Ward and Phillip Viebrock scored 12 and 10 points, respectively, to lead the Hawks.
Tekoa-Oakesdale 49, Potlatch 40: At Tekoa, the Nighthawks (9-0) scored their second non-league victory over the visiting Loggers. Tekoa-Oakesdale got 14 points from Derek Flock, and 10 each from Bobby Ellis and Tyler Young. L.J. Murray led all scorers with 18 points for the Loggers.

Down by two at halftime, Lakeland stormed back in the second half to down Post Falls 65-35 in an IEL game in Rathdrum. The Hawks scored 44 second-half points while limiting the Trojans to 12. Brigitte Boucher scored 16 of her game-high 18 points in the second half. Mindy Meyer scored 10 of her 15 points in the first quarter for Lakeland. Jenny McVeigh scored 11 points to lead Post Falls. … Kootenai 51, Clark Fork 26: Kootenai opened the game with a 19-6 first-quarter run and never looked back, posting a North Star League victory over visiting Clark Fork at Harrison. Rayna Allen scored 12 of her 16 points in the second quarter, doing all of her team’s scoring in the period. But Kootenai adjusted its defense in the second half and limited Clark Fork to eight second-half points. Cassie Scheffelmaier scored 22 points, hitting 11 of 13 from the field, grabbed seven rebounds and five steals and dished off four assists to lead Kootenai. Hannah Nyrop added 15 points. … Tekoa-Oakesdale 58, Clark Fork 34: Tekoa-Oakesdale post Darcie Chappell scored a game-high 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Nighthawks over visiting Potlatch in a non-league game at Tekoa. Cassie Smith added 14 points for T-O. … Kendrick 63, St. Maries 35: Kendrick opened with a 19-8 run in the first quarter and finished with a 21-7 run in the fourth quarter to salt away the non-league game at St. Maries. Nichole Scott scored 23 points and grabbed 19 rebounds to lead Kendrick. Kristi Smith pumped in 17 points to lead the Lumberjacks.

Kellogg posted five pins and won six of the final seven matches in its Intermountain League showdown with Timberlake at Kellogg, posting a 49-29 victory. Ben Cook’s pin at 145 pounds got the Wildcats rolling. Kyle Kromer (152), Court Alfrey (189), Devano Robb (215) and Donne Madsen (119) all won by pin.
