Mon., Jan. 10, 2005
A Nez Perce, Idaho, man was killed and two passengers were injured over the weekend in a one-car accident on Highway 64 between Nez Perce and Kamiah, the Idaho State Police said.
Jacob D. Roberts, 21, died after the car he was driving failed to negotiate a turn to the left and slid off the right side of the roadway about 1 p.m. on Saturday. It plunged 400 feet down an embankment where it came to rest in the bottom of a draw, police said. He was not wearing a seat belt.
One of the passengers, Joanna L. Cattron, scrambled up the embankment to summon help. She was taken to Clearwater Valley Hospital. She had been wearing a seat belt. The second passenger, Jessica L. Monstrom, was airlifted to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, state police said. Monstrom, who was not wearing a seat belt, was reported in fair condition Sunday night. Ages and addresses for the two passengers were not given.
