Eleven football players nominated for scholar/athlete award

The National Football Foundation has selected the 11 high school finalists for from the Inland Northwest for the 2004 Ray Flaherty Scholar/Athlete Award.
The award, given to the athlete who best represents athletics, academics and citizenship, will be presented at the Davenport Hotel in Spokane Jan. 17 at 7:00 p.m. by the Inland Northwest Chapter of the National Football Foundation.
The finalists are: Nathan Anderson, Timberlake High School; K.C. Billetz, Post Falls High School; Matt Gallagher, North Central High School; Curtis Heyamoto, Ferris High School; Gabe Kiefel, Waitsburg High School; Jacob Kragt,Ritzville High School; Andrew Largent, Shadle Park High School; Sean Lissy, Sandpoint High School; Jordan Marshall, Mt. Spokane High School; Dan Sanders, Freeman High School; Buddy Wood, Riverside High School.
Tickets will be available for $50.00 each or a table of 10 for $500.00. Tickets can be purchased by calling Patricio DeLeon at 509-939-7215. The speaker for this year’s banquet will be Robb Akey, Washington State University Defensive Coordinator.
There is a social at 6:00 p.m. to meet with other scholar athletes and their coaches.
