Free Nutrition Education Classes – The University of Idaho Extension Nutrition Program, 1000 Hubbard Ave., Suite 140, Coeur d’Alene, is offering free weekly classes for those receiving food stamps, school free-lunch programs, and other health and wellness programs. Sleep Over for Science – The Eastern Washington Area Health Education Center and the 4-H Clubs of Eastern Washington present an overnight health careers education camp for fourth-, fifth- and sixth grade students Friday through Saturday at the Washington State University Spokane Riverpoint Campus, Health Sciences building, 610 N. Resolution 2005 Health and Life Improvement Expo – St. Joseph’s Family Center is presenting this wellness fair to learn fun ways to keep your New Year’s resolutions about getting in shape. The expo includes demonstrations in martial arts, yoga and dance, and there will be educational seminars, as well. The expo is on Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Spokane Convention Center. Admission is $8 and is good for both days. Medicare 101 – This monthly class will explain the benefits of Medicare and is for anyone turning 65 and eligible for Medicare benefits. Epilepsy Educational Resources – the Epilepsy Foundation Northwest, 315 W. Mission No. 21, is offering free educational presentations about seizure recognition and first aid. On Jan. 26, there will be a special meeting featuring Cyberonics’ Therapeutic consultant, Dan DeYoung from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Lindaman Center, 315 W. The National Alliance for the Mentally Ill – For adult relatives of adults with mental illnesses, this course will meet on Jan. 29 from 9:30 a.m.-noon and every Saturday morning after that for 12 weeks at Sacred Heart Medical Center, 101 W. Cancer Fitness Recovery Program – The Medically Directed Wellness Center at St. Luke’s Rehabilitation Institute is looking for four underinsured or uninsured women to participate in its Cancer Fitness Recovery Program. The program helps cancer survivors deal with the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation. The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation has set aside money for women who cannot afford to join.
