Colfax senior named state’s Junior Miss

Colfax High School senior Stephanie Eng has been named Washington Junior Miss for 2005.

Eng won the title and a $4,000 college scholarship on Saturday at the state Junior Miss competition on Saturday in Pullman. The designation allows Eng to compete in the 48th Annual America’s Junior Miss National Finals in June in Mobile, Ala.

The first runner-up and winner of a $2,000 scholarship at the Washington event was Naomi Talbot, of Moses Lake.

More than 5,000 girls who are high school seniors participate in 600 local Junior Miss competitions each year, according to the Junior Miss Web site.

Teens representing 32 communities in Washington competed for more than $13,000 in college scholarships during Saturday’s event.
