Kind of art: Nadherny explores her environment using a variety of materials, including paints, welded metals, ceramic and concrete. Her paintings sometimes include the use of light within her picture frame to create imagery on the reverse side of the canvas.

She frequently uses images of her body as a connection between her life and her art. “I have recently generated work relating to issues of daily life touching on feminine aspects,” she says.

Influences: Contemporary artists who have strongly influenced her include expressionist figurative painters Cecily Brown, Jenny Saville, Nathan Olivera and Lucian Freud.

What’s ahead? In addition to pursuing a Master of Fine Arts, Nadherny will create art in a “conceptual manner using paint in combination with mixed media.” She also plans to continue examining “conditions the human body experiences and what it means as an instrument.”
