Kutcher’s ‘Geek’ gets second chance

Kathleen Sheridan Knight Ridder

I hear that Ashton Kutcher’s reality show

“Beauty and the Geek” (WB, Wednesdays) has been picked up for another season. For those of you who are counting, that’s three shows for Mr. Kutcher.

On last week’s episode, the men received some much-needed makeovers from their female counterparts and were given the assignment of getting phone numbers from complete strangers. Some were successful … but poor Richard, a 21-year-old recent college graduate, was not. Girls were practically running away from him, and in the final moments of desperation, he asked a few senior citizens for their digits.

Don’t feel too bad for Richard. He and his partner Mindi managed to survive the final challenge, and he will have another chance at becoming a ladies man this week.

Sadly, I have to admit that I went against my boycott and decided to watch the premiere episode of

“I Want To Be a Hilton” (NBC, Tuesdays) last week. It was horrible, as I expected, and I can’t believe that Kathy Hilton is claiming that she can prepare a bunch of misfits (showgirls, home girls, ranch hands, singing ex-beauty queens, etc.) for high-society, yet she never bothered to teach her children.

And I’m sure I’m not the only one who thought of her daughter when she said, “Money doesn’t buy class.” Skip this show, people. I mean it this time.

Just when you thought there wasn’t room for another reality show, look out for three more in July.

“Venus and Serena: For Real” (ABC Family) focuses on the off-court lives of the famous tennis siblings, while the remaining members of TLC look for a new performer to join the once famous trio in

“R U The Girl With T-Boz and Chilli” (UPN) – check local listings for air dates.

And

“The Princes of Malibu” (Fox) stars Grammy Award-winning producer David Foster and wife Linda Thompson (ex-wife of Bruce Jenner).

They seem to be having some problems with their spoiled stepsons, Brandon and Brody Jenner – who prefer to spend their days sleeping and nights partying and spending their stepdad’s money. David has hit his breaking point. He wants his stepsons to contribute to the household – they must get jobs or get out. The show premieres July 10 on Fox.
