Jack Mountjoy reaches Eagle rank

Jack Mountjoy, a member of Boy Scout Troop 468, recently received the Eagle Scout Award. For his project, Mountjoy constructed a concrete sitting bench on top of a circular stone black design to complement the Mary Grotto at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic School. The son of Bruce and Carol Ann Mountjoy of Veradale, he plans to attend Whitman College in the fall.

“Army Reserve Master Sgt. Bruce Kidd received a Bronze Star for aiding in the rescue of wounded Iraqi soldiers last fall while stationed in Talafar, Iraq. The son of Alice Kidd, University Place, Wash., he is a 1988 Mead High School graduate.

“Christian ‘Scott’ Carlson was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Marine Corps following spring commencement at the University of Idaho, where he received a degree in history. He is a 2001 graduate of Gonzaga Preparatory School and is the son of Chris and Marcia Carlson of Spokane. He will attend Basic School at Quantico, Va. For additional officer training.

“Air Force 2nd Lt. Jeff Horobiowski graduated after the spring semester from Washington State University with a Bachelor of Arts, aviation. He is a 2001 graduate of North Central High School.

“The following area residents have completed basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio:

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Aaron Reese, the son of Jerry Reese of Medical Lake, is a 2003 graduate of Medical Lake High School.

Air Force Airman Sean Jenno is a 2002 graduate of Lakeside High School, Nine Mile Falls, and is the son of Carl and Diana Jenno of Nine Mile Falls.

Air Force Airman Matthew Montgomery is the son of Chris Montgomery of Colville and a 1999 graduate of Colville High School.

Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Jacob Findlay, a 2003 graduate of Lakeside High School, Nine Mile Falls, is the son of Mary Lemon of Nine Mile Falls.

“Air Force Cadet Karl Scheuerman has graduated from the Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs, with a Bachelor of Science and has been commissioned as a second lieutenant.

He is the son of Richard and Lois Scheuerman of Spokane and a 2000 graduate of St. John-Endicott High School, St. John, Wash.

“Alex Bertolucci of Spokane was honored during a ceremony held Tuesday in Charleston, S.C., for completing 10 months of service as a member of AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps. He is a 2004 graduate of Ferris High School.

“Ryan Findley has graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott, Ariz., with a bachelor’s degree and has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air Force. He is the son of Casey Findley of Spokane Valley and Nancy Lyons of Spokane and is a 2000 Ferris High School graduate.

“Army Pvt. Matthew Hamrick has graduated from basic military combat training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Okla. A 2004 graduate of Rogers High School, he is the son of Sandi Hamrick of Three Forks, Mont.

“Dell Olmstead has been commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Air Force and has graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott, Ariz.

The son of Joe and Kathy Olmstead of Chattaroy, he is a 2001 graduate of Riverside High School, Chattaroy.

“Army Pvt. Robert Lambert graduated from basic combat training at Fort Knox, Ky. He is a 2002 graduate of Lake Roosevelt High School, Coulee Dam, and the son of Robert Lambert, Grand Coulee.

“Army Pvt. Caleb Andrea has completed basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

He is the son of Stephen Andrea, Newport, Wash., and is a 2003 graduate of Newport High School.
