Golf tourney to benefit SVCC

Spokane Valley Community Center is teeing off against poverty with a golf tournament fund-raiser.

The tournament, to be held on July 21 at MeadowWood Golf Course will offer good times and exciting prizes while raising money for the center’s emergency assistance program.

Last year, the center provided $64,000 in assistance that prevented utility shut-offs and another $12,000 in aid for medical expenses and rent.

Entry fees cost $100 per person and include greens fees, favor packets, shared golf carts and dinner. A shotgun start begins at 1 p.m.

Contests include closest to the pin other favorites and prizes include a week’s stay at Fairmont Hot Springs Resort and 10 opportunities to win tickets to Gonzaga University men’s basketball games.

Sponsorships are still available for businesses that want a little exposure and to support a good cause.
