Artist Maxey visiting Corbin Art Center

The Corbin Art Center, 507 W. Seventh Ave., and Spokane Parks and Recreation are presenting a four-day workshop with visiting artist Diane Maxey Sept. 27 through 30.

Maxey, who specializes in watercolors, will discuss finding inspiration for paintings from photographs. She lives in Paradise Valley, Ariz., and paints daily.

The cost of the workshop is $285. Registration deadline is July 25. For information, call 625-6677.

Auditions

Interplayers, 174 S. Howard St., is holding auditions for its 25th anniversary season, which begins next fall.

General auditions will be July 25 from 5 to 9 p.m., with callbacks on Aug. 3. Auditioners are asked to prepare two contrasting monologues that last for a maximum of three minutes.

Auditions for the musical “The Fantasticks” will be Aug. 1 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Auditioners must prepare a song by Cole Porter, Stephen Sondheim, Rogers and Hart or Leonard Bernstein.

The season also will include “The Mystery of Irma Vep,” “Mozart and Salieri,” “The Miss Firecracker Contest” and “Romeo and Juliet.”

To reserve an audition time, call 455-PLAY on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10 a.m to 3 p.m.

Classes and workshops

•Corbin Art Center, 507 W. Seventh Ave., is offering the following classes for children, sponsored by Spokane Parks and Recreation, the week of July 25 through 29. Preregistration is required by calling 625-6200:

Adventure Camp for ages 6 through 11, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., $89; Science and Nature for ages 3 though 5, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., $21; Paint Media for ages 6 through 11, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., $21; Clay and Construction for ages 3 through 5, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., $21; Kool Klay! for ages 6 through 11, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., $21; Young Adventurers for ages 3 through 5, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., $21; Flying Fun for ages 6 through 11, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., $21; Sky Creatures for ages 3 through 5, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., $21; and Mystery Theater for ages 6 through 11, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., $21. Daily bag lunches will be available for $5.

There also will be a Chokers and Earrings class for teens and adults on July 26 from 1 to 3 p.m. Cost is $14.

•Tinman Gallery, 811 W. Garland Ave., is offering the following classes:

Kids Workshop, Giacometti sculptures, Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon, $10 (includes materials); Outdoor Urban Mural for junior high and high school students, designing and painting murals on Garland neighborhood businesses, July 18-21 and 25-28, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., $180 plus a $15 materials fee; Make It and Take It for adults, Frida Cards, July 19, 6 to 8 p.m., $10 (includes materials).
