Buddhist Temple plans open house Saturday

The South Perry neighborhood is celebrating its annual Street Faire on Saturday, and the Spokane Buddhist Temple, 927 S. Perry St., is joining the festivities.

The temple is holding an open house from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Anyone interested in Buddhism may attend an introduction to the faith at 11 a.m. and at 2 p.m.

Guitar concert

Ancient Traditions Community Church, 1928 E. Rich Ave., is hosting Tuning the Air: 360 Degrees of Music on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Ten acoustic guitarists from the Seattle Guitar Craft Circle will perform around the audience.

The suggested donation to attend is $10.

Choir concert

Messiah Lutheran Church, 4202 N. Belt St., is presenting Promise, a touring group from California Baptist University, Riverside, Calif., at 7 p.m. Sunday.

The concert is free, although a free-will offering will be accepted.

Church carnivals

“ Cornerstone Christian Academy is hosting its third annual summer carnival Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Heritage Congregational Church, 1801 E. 29th Ave.

The event will include games, prizes, an inflatable castle and a giant slide.

Game tickets are five for $1.

Vacation Bible School

“ Mission Community Presbyterian Church, 2103 E. Mission Ave., is hosting vacation Bible school next week from Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.

This year’s theme, “The Solar Express, Empowered by the Son,” will include Bible lessons, crafts, snacks, games and fun.

“ Messiah Lutheran Church, 4202 N. Belt St., in conjunction with North Hill Christian Church, is presenting vacation Bible school Sunday through next Thursday from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

This year’s theme, “Serengeti Trek,” will include a light supper at 5:30 p.m., and games, crafts and Bible stories.

Children from age 3 through the sixth grade are invited.
