Party planned for retiring U-Hi teacher

Friends, family and former students will honor retiring University High School math teacher Gerry Manfred with a no-host party at Heroes & Legends, 825 W. Riverside Ave., at 5:30 p.m. June 16.

After 43 years as an educator – 42 at University – Manfred is retiring. Manfred, 64, began teaching at the old U-Hi building in 1963, when it was brand new. He also helped open the new U-Hi in 2002.
