Storage Solutions to add facility in Liberty Lake

Notebook The Spokesman-Review

Storage Solutions is building a second mini-storage facility, this one in Liberty Lake. The company has operated Storage Solutions Latah Creek since 2001, located at 4200 S. Cheney-Spokane Road.

The new operation, to be called Storage Solutions Liberty Lake, is located at 2211 N. Harvard Road. It’ll have about 500 storage units and a total of 80,000 square feet of storage space, said manager Greg Garrett. It’s tentatively scheduled to open in August.

Until recently, Storage Solutions was called Latah Creek Storage. The company changed its name to accommodate its expected growth, Garrett said.

“Our plans are to continue to expand,” and each new location would use the Storage Solutions name, he said.

Storage Solutions is owned by Spokane-based Sunny Creek Development. Sunny Creek also is developing the new Storage Solutions Liberty Lake facility.

Storage Solutions will hold an open house at its Latah Creek location on June 22 to introduce its new name and celebrate its expansion, Garrett said. For information call (509) 455-4242.

GU to host student business event

Almost 130 high-school students will participate in Washington Business Week on the Gonzaga University campus later this month.

The program is designed to introduce students to business concepts. It’s been held statewide since 1975.

Students pay about $300 for the week-long event. Sessions also are held at Central Washington University in Ellensburg and at Western Washington University in Bellingham.

During the week students split up into teams of about 10, then using a computer program, create a product and launch a company. Each team has an adviser who is a member of the local business community. At the end of the week, students hold a trade show and try to sell their idea to investors, who also are business volunteers, a Washington Business Week spokeswoman said.

Students don’t have to have a business background to participate, and in fact, only some of them will go on to college or a business career, the spokeswoman said.

The event is organized by the nonprofit Foundation for Private Enterprise Education and is sponsored by a variety of businesses and nonprofit organizations.
