EWU football receives Jolley recruiting news

The Spokesman-Review

East Valley junior Tyler Jolley, an All-Greater Spokane League defensive end, has committed to sign with the Eastern Washington University football team in February, the school confirmed Thursday.

It’s the earliest commitment in the history of EWU coach Paul Wulff’s program.

“I just didn’t really see myself playing anywhere else,” said Jolley, who is 6-foot-3, 250 pounds. “I didn’t want to go into my senior year with that distraction.”

After five straight seasons of finishing just better than .500, the Eagles went 9-4 last fall, tying Montana for the Big Sky Conference title and advancing to the second round of the I-AA playoffs.

CCS’ Moore drafted by Rockies

Community Colleges of Spokane freshman pitcher Jordan Moore (Lakeside-Nine Mile Falls High) was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 49th round of baseball’s amateur draft on Wednesday.

Shadow prepare for busy weekend

The Spokane Shadow (4-2-0, 12 points) will attempt to maintain second place when they meet the Yakima Reds (3-2-2, 11) at 7:05 tonight in Premier Development League Northwest Division soccer play at Yakima.

Spokane and Yakima have split two matches this season, with the Reds winning the latest 3-2.

The Shadow will return home to Albi Stadium at 7:05 Saturday night for a match against the first-place Cascade Surge (5-0-1, 16 points). Cascade defeated Spokane 4-3 in their lone matchup.
