UI College of Natural Resources honors faculty, staff for excellence

The College of Natural Resources at the University of Idaho recently recognized outstanding faculty and staff members with end-of-academic-year awards.

Recipients are listed.

Andrew Robinson, associate professor of forest resources, received the Outstanding Adviser Award.

Troy Hall, associate professor of conservation social sciences, won the Outstanding Research Award.

Eva Strand, coordinator of GIS lab and remote sensing, was awarded the Outstanding Instructor Award.

Cheri Cole, administrative assistant, was given the Outstanding Staff Award.

Steven Hollenhorst, professor and department head of conservation social sciences, won the Outstanding Continuing Education and Service Award.

Outstanding Senior Awards from each department went to the following undergraduate and graduating seniors for academic achievement and service to the department and community:

Benjamin Harlow, of Cataldo, Outstanding Graduate in Forest Resources.

Heidi Johnson, of Dalton Gardens, Outstanding Leadership Award in Forest Products.

John McLain, of North Fork, Outstanding Senior in Fishery Resources.

Wade Hendricks, of St. Maries, Academic Achievement Award in Forest Products.

Karla Makus, academic and administrative services coordinator in the University of Idaho Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, was recognized or her dedication to students in the College of Natural Resources. Makus received a National Academic Advising Association Certificate of Merit in the Academic Advising-Primary Role category. This honor is given to individuals who have demonstrated qualities associated with outstanding academic advising of students or outstanding academic advising administration. Makus has advised CNR students for nine years and is one of 10 academic advisers nation-wide to be honored with this category this year. She also received a Faculty Excellence Award from students of the Naval ROTC Battalion at the UI and Washington State University. The award recognizes outstanding faculty or staff who show unwavering devotion to students.
