Former Eyman treasurer owes fines for violations

Associated Press

EVERETT – Suzanne Karr, former treasurer of an initiative campaign by Tim Eyman, has been ordered to pay more than $39,000 in fines, attorney fees and costs after a decision by Snohomish County Superior Court Judge Linda Krese.

On Thursday, the judge found that Karr, of Everett, violated campaign disclosure laws by helping hide payments to Eyman for his political efforts. Krese also refused to dismiss a civil lawsuit against Karr.

The state Public Disclosure Commission filed a lawsuit against Karr, Eyman and his business corporation, Permanent Offense Inc. The commission said they failed to report expenditures made by Eyman’s political action committee and concealed the payments to Eyman.

In a decision in April, Krese found that Eyman and Karr had created a corporation in 2000 to hide salary payments to the Mukilteo initiative maven, hiding those payments from the public.
