Q: One of my favorite shows of all time was “Silk Stalkings” (1991-1999) with Rob Estes and Mitzi Kapture. Why was the show canceled? – Liza S.

A: The once highly popular series was canceled because of poor ratings that followed the departure of the original stars – Rob Estes as Chris Lorenzo, and Mitzi Kapture as Rita Lance – following the 1995 season. The replacement team never caught on with the audience.

Q: Is it true that actress Christine Ebersole was once married to Eric Braeden, who plays Victor on “The Young and The Restless”? I believe she was, but two friends say her former husband was on another soap. Hope you can help. – Lydia L.

A: Tony winner Christine Ebersole (for “42nd Street”) has been married since 1988 to Peter Moloney (uncle of “West Wing” actress Janel Moloney), with whom she has three children. She was never wed to Eric Braeden. She was, however, married to Peter Bergman, who plays Jack Abbott on the soap. Bergman was on “All My Children” as Dr. Cliff Warner during the early years of their marriage.

Q: Is it true that Fran Drescher is planning a spin-off of “The Nanny”? – Andy N.

A: Not in the immediate future, if ever. Drescher already has a new series premiering April 8 on the WB called “Living with Fran,” in which she plays a divorced woman who starts an affair with a handsome younger man played by Ryan McPartlin.

Q: Whatever happened to the $1 million engagement ring Ben Affleck gave to Jennifer Lopez? I was told he wanted her to keep it, and she did. Is that true? – Wendy G.

A: Lopez returned the ring to Affleck who, in turn, returned it to the jeweler who, I understand, resold it for a tidy sum.

Q: I saw an interview that Geraldo Rivera did with Michael Jackson (on FOX), and I suspect he (Rivera) deliberately tried to make Jackson look innocent to influence a potential jury at the time they were being picked for his trial. Do other people in the media agree with that? – Lou (no last initial)

A: Rivera had been criticized by his press colleagues for throwing marshmallows at Jackson instead of the probing questions he’s famous for lobbing at his interview subjects. However, Rivera defends himself by stating 1) that under guidelines issued by the judge in the case, Jackson could not answer certain questions, so Geraldo didn’t ask them. And 2) Geraldo felt asking Jackson about his children (his own – not his Neverland guests) simply presented him in a new light, that of doting father. Finally, 3) Geraldo – who is a lawyer – reminds us that under our system of laws, Michael Jackson is innocent, unless and until a jury or judge decides otherwise.

Q: I once asked you for a celebrity’s address, and you gave me the wrong one. Please give me the right one now. – Elaine N.

A: Sorry, but you never got that celebrity’s address from me, because I never give them out.
