Gonzaga University’s Ronny Turiaf and Adam Morrison earned more honors Wednesday as both were named to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (UWBWA) All-District 9 team.
It was the second straight year Turiaf, a senior from Le Robert, Martinique, has been honored. Morrison, a sophomore from Mead High School, received his first recognition from the writers.
Joining the Gonzaga duo on the first team were Ike Diogu from Arizona State; Channing Frye and Salim Stoudamire of Arizona; Daniel Kickert of Saint Mary’s; Christian Maraker of Pacific; Nate Robinson and Tre Simmons from Washington; and Dijon Thompson of UCLA.
Stoudamire was named the District 9 player of the year while Pacific’s Bob Thomason was selected as District 9 coach of the year.
