Chemicals pickup scheduled

The Spokesman-Review

Spring House Greening 2005 is scheduled for April 16.

The event marks the eighth year that neighborhood volunteers will assist senior citizens and physically challenged individuals with the safe disposal of their household hazardous waste.

For unwanted household hazardous materials pickup, call the Household Hazardous Waste Hotline at 532-7645. Pesticides, herbicides, batteries, nonlatex paint, varnish, household cleaners, solvents, automotive fluid and other chemicals should be placed on porches or driveways for pickup. Those who live in apartments should ask their manager where to put their items.

The waste will be safely transported for disposal or recycling at the Waste-to-Energy Plant.

Spring House Greening 2005 is a collaborative effort of the Spokane Regional Health District, the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program and the Spokane Regional Solid Waste System. It is open to all Spokane County residents.

The Household Hazardous Waste Hotline is available 365 days a year to seniors and physically challenged people needing assistance with disposal of chemicals.

For more information, call CW at RSVP, 344-7787, ext. 162.
