By now, we’ve all had enough of our fair Cher

BELLY DANCERS, a dancing elephant and a video montage of her lengthy career marked the end of Cher‘s three-year farewell tour. Cher, 58, played to a sold-out crowd Saturday at the Hollywood Bowl and insisted this final concert on her 325-stop tour really was the end.

“There are two reasons people come back,” she told the crowd. “Because, like the Stones, they’re broke. Again. Or they’re old divas who can’t wait to be out among their adoring fans.

“But this, this truly is it.”

The evening was vintage Cher, who made her entrance from above decked out in a silver coat and hood. The show, which included about a dozen costume changes, ended with fireworks.

Video clips broadcast on four giant screens showed the Sonny Bono years, shots from her solo career and clips of Cher with Carol Burnett, Ray Charles, Elton John, David Bowie and the Muppets.

Better check that old dreamboat for leaks

Hollywood’s newest couple – Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes – may strike some as unlikely, but the match was foretold in Seventeen magazine.

“I think every little girl dreams about (her wedding),” Holmes, 26, told Seventeen in October. “I used to think I was going to marry Tom Cruise.”

Says the 42-year-old Cruise: “I don’t want to disappoint her.”

Penelope doesn’t cruise that way

Tom Cruise’s ex, Penelope Cruz, says she regrets grabbing her friend Salma Hayek‘s rear end during a recent photo shoot.

The Spanish star insists she was sick with the flu and a little delirious when she let her hand linger on Hayek’s bottom at a news conference for their new film “Bandidas.”

Now, she says, “There are magazine covers in Mexico describing us as these lesbians because of that. A lot of people were saying we were lovers.”

Sounds like he was pie-eyed

Meanwhile, Katie Holmes’ ex, “American Pie” star Chris Klein, has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge, was fined $1,800 and ordered to perform 150 hours of community service.

San Diego County Sheriff’s deputies arrested the 26-year-old actor Feb. 5 in Encinitas. Authorities said he had a blood-alcohol content above 0.20, more than twice California’s legal limit of 0.08.

Klein also was featured in the 1999 film “Election” with Reese Witherspoon. He and Holmes recently called off their engagement after dating for five years.

Who says blondes have more fun?

And speaking of Ms. Witherspoon, she’s not exactly the favorite actress of Robert Luketic, who directed her in the “Legally Blonde” films.

Asked whether he would want her in his big-screen remake of the TV soap “Dallas,” Luketic replied: “Er, no. Moviemaking is supposed to be fun.

“There is something impenetrable about that woman,” he added. “She would come out of her trailer and ask: ‘Why are you all laughing? She would want to know why we all had smiles on our faces. Moviemaking to her is a deadly serious business.”
