Bridges helps Lake City hold its slim lead in IEL
Lake City turned to Bridges to avoid troubled waters on Thursday.
Kelley Bridges finished 3 for 4 with one run and two runs batted in while leading the Timberwolves to a 6-1 win over visiting Post Falls in Inland Empire League softball.
With the win, first-place LC (16-8, 12-4) maintained its half-game lead over Coeur d’Alene (17-6, 11-4). PF (14-10, 11-7), which began the day in third place by itself, dropped into a virtual third-place tie with idle Lewiston (12-8, 10-6).
Elsewhere in the IEL, Jenna DeLong pitched a three-hitter, striking out 11 and walking none, and went 3 for 4 with two RBIs to power CdA to a 10-0 win over host Lakeland (10-11, 9-9) at Rathdrum. The Vikings’ Samantha Ritzheimer finished 2 for 4 with one run and one RBI.

Coeur d’Alene (16-6, 10-5) moved into second place in the IEL with a 3-1 win over host Lakeland (6-13, 6-11) at Rathdrum. … Lake City (16-7, 10-6) dropped into third place after a 5-1 home loss against Post Falls (11-10, 7-9).
