Vine, Stein, Dine proceeds to benefit March of Dimes

Sip on samples of more than 200 Pacific Northwest wines and brews on Friday from 7 to 10 p.m. and support research on premature birth.

The third annual Vine, Stein and Dine event to benefit the March of Dimes will be held in the Pend Oreille Pavilion at Northern Quest Casino.

Besides the tasting event, the evening will incorporate a variety of appetizers and a silent auction that includes Seattle Mariner tickets, Lion King gift basket and theater tickets, Spokane Indian skyboxes, bottles of wine, and tours of the Full Sail Brewing Co., Hood River, Ore.

Tickets are $35 if purchased in advance, or $40 at the door. Tickets may be purchased through TicketsWest, at Vino! Wine Shop, or at selected Yoke’s Fresh Markets.

Attendees may also take advantage of discounted stays at the Airport Ramada Inn with complimentary shuttle rides to the casino.

Tea and fashion show to fight cancer

The second annual Victoria Lace Tea and Fashion Show, hosted by Because There Is Hope, will be held in the banquet room at the Glen Dow Academy, 311 W. Riverside Ave.

Because There Is Hope is a local nonprofit group committed to providing a message of hope and healing to area women diagnosed with breast cancer.

Proceeds from next Sunday’s event will support the group’s plans to create a Spokane home that will offer mental, physical and spiritual support to women with breast cancer by providing temporary housing, education and other resources during treatment and recovery.

In addition to the vintage fashion show, a light lunch and tea will be served beginning at 2 p.m.

Asthma walk

A 3K walk along the Spokane River will help support research for the cure and treatment of asthma on Saturday.

To participate in the first American Lung Association walk, meet at Mirabeau Park, just off North Pines Road.

Registration starts at 8 a.m.; walk begins at 9 a.m.

Shelter tours

The community is invited to visit both the Union Gospel Mission and Anna Ogden Hall today.

The Union Gospel Mission, 1224 E. Trent Ave., is a shelter for homeless men. A shelter for women and children in crisis, Anna Ogden Hall, is at 2828 W. Mallon Ave.

Tours will be held from 1 to 4 p.m.; and refreshments will be served.
