Officers find 3 dead; homicide suspected

From staff reports

Kootenai County sheriff’s deputies are investigating an apparent homicide involving three victims at a house east of here.

With investigators just beginning their work, little information was available Monday night.

Authorities were called about 6:15 p.m. Monday by a Frontage Road neighbor who reported “suspicious circumstances,” said sheriff’s Capt. Ben Wolfinger.

Investigators sealed the house without identifying or removing the bodies Monday night. They planned to return at daylight with a search warrant, Wolfinger said.

“They’re treating it as an obvious homicide,” Wolfinger said of investigators. The cause of death remained undetermined, he said, but there was obvious trauma to the bodies.

Frontage Road was expected to be closed through the night. Wolf Lodge Bay is about eight miles east of Coeur d’Alene, just off Interstate 90.
