Denton honored with service award

The Spokane Association of REALTORS®

The REALTOR® Community Service Award is presented annually to a worthy recipient based on that individual’s contributions in the community. Emphasis is placed on voluntary service in activities involving community affairs, charitable organizations or other worthy activities that demonstrate a commitment of service to the Spokane community.

This year’s REALTOR® Community Service Award goes to Melinda Denton, Coldwell Banker Northwest Group, who has given tirelessly to the community while representing the REALTORS® in an exemplary manner.

Her volunteer work includes many venues such as serving on the Board of the Boys and Girls Club and as president of the North Side Marketing Club, which helps prevent child abuse.

Most significantly, she contributes to the community in a very special way. She is noted for her approximately 40 Angel Flights that she makes to transport injured or ill citizens in her Cessna 210 to hospitals throughout the West. She is well-known to area airport controllers who have named her aircraft “Blond Aire.”

A graduate of the University of Idaho with 28 years in the real estate profession, Denton claims she has a hard time staying still and is on the move all the time — as demonstrated by her service.
