LCSC rally falls short in loss to Oklahoma City
LEWISTON – Oklahoma City survived a late comeback bid by Lewis-Clark State on Monday night to advance in the winners bracket of the NAIA baseball World Series at Harris Field.
The host Warriors, who had rallied from behind for three runs in the ninth inning to win their first-round game Friday, came up with two with two outs in the ninth this time, but fell short in an 11-10 loss.
LC State (45-8) will play Spalding, Ky. (54-22) at 3 p.m. today in a battle for survival. Oklahoma City (65-11) will meet defending champion Cumberland, Tenn. (56-19) in a battle of unbeatens.
The big blow for Oklahoma City on Monday was Nick Klusaw’s three-run home run in a five-run third that opened a 7-3 lead.
Lewis-Clark State kept clawing back, with Gavin Concepcion belting a grand-slam in a five-run fifth for the Warriors.
Justin Fuller’s two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth produced the final margin. The Warriors left the tying and winning runs on base.
