Gibson, Attridge spark Deer Park

Laura Gibson scored two goals and Ashley Attridge netted the game-winning score in the 62nd minute to propel visiting Deer Park (6-4, 4-2) to a 4-2 win over Medical Lake (2-6, 1-4) in Great Northern League girls soccer play on Tuesday.

Courtney Kelley had a goal and an assist for ML.

In other GNL play, Moria Beeler found the net 12 minutes into the match and Laura Beedle added a goal 4 minutes into the second half to lift Lakeside (4-4, 3-2) to a 2-0 victory over visiting Colville (3-4, 1-4) at Nine Mile Falls. … Hillary Berry notched two goals, and Randi Hollen and Tabitha Grow each added a goal and an assist to lead Riverside (5-2, 4-0) to a 6-0 victory over visiting Chewelah (1-7, 0-5).

Cross country

Justin Rose (16 minutes 47 seconds), Ryan Cloke (16:52) and Jake Wilson (17:12) finished 1-2-3 to lead the Colville’s boys to a Great Northern League sweep over Pullman 17-45 and Chewelah 15-44. Pullman beat Chewelah 21-34. Brittany Williams (19:57) and Nikkol Sipes placed 1-2 to lead the Colville girls to a 26-29 win over Pullman and 20-41 win over Chewelah. Chewelah’s Rebecca Johnstone (21:46) finished third. Pullman beat Chewelah 24-37. … Lakeside placed four runners in the top five spots, led by Max Reeder (second, 16:40) and Jason Reeder (third, 17:12) to sweep a three-way boys meet in Deer Park. Lakeside beat Medical Lake 20-43 and Deer Park 15-50, while ML beat Deer Park 15-50. ML’s David Jacobs won the race in 16:35. On the girls’ side, Kayloni Jones led the field with a time of 19:59 and led Lakeside to a 25-34 win over ML and a 24-35 win over Deer Park. ML and Deer Park tied at 28. Deer Park’s Carolyn Grey was runner-up in 20:29.

Volleyball

In Great Northern League play, Brooke Schanzenbach had seven kills and Maddie Kernan totaled 13 assists to lead visiting Chewelah (10-2, 4-2) to a 25-23, 25-20, 27-25 victory over Riverside (5-7, 3-3) in a battle for third place. Kayla Newburg had a match-high 22 kills for Riverside.… Rachel Lessard tallied eight kills and four aces, and Carrie Raby added 12 digs to lead Medical Lake (5-8, 1-5) to a 25-22, 25-16, 25-14 sweep over visiting Deer Park (2-7, 0-6). … Idle Pullman (5-0) and Lakeside (4-1), who have yet to meet in league play, continue to set the pace. Colville (3-3), which was also idle, is tied for fourth with Riverside.
