Pullman outshoots Riverside for 1st place

Britney Winterbottom and Kelli Davis each scored shootout goals to give Pullman (8-1, 5-0) control of first place in Great Northern League girls soccer with a 1-0 victory over host Riverside on Thursday.

Kristen Johnson scored the lone goal for the Rams (5-3, 4-1) in the teams’ third shootout in their last four matches.

Pullman goalkeeper Raquel Marcelo and her Riverside counterpart Amanda Sturm each had six saves.

In other GNL action, Korianne Lybbert scored on a breakaway from 20 yards out in the 68th minute to lead Medical Lake (3-5, 2-3) past visiting Colville 2-1. Janelle Rainer scored on a penalty kick for the Indians (3-5, 1-5).

Volleyball

Caitlin McGrane had nine kills and served the final five points of the match to lead Colville to a 3-1 victory over host Medical Lake (1-6) in Great Northern League play. Jordan Emmil added 18 assists for the Indians (4-3). … Kelli Tikker had 12 kills and Lindsay Jelke added 25 assists as Lakeside-Nine Mile Falls (5-1) swept Deer Park (0-7).
