Bobcats win with late field goal

Jeff Hastings kicked a 39-yard field goal as time expired to cap a 17-point rally and give Montana State a 27-24 victory over Weber State on Saturday in Ogden, Utah.

The Bobcats (4-2, 2-0 Big Sky) beat the Wildcats (2-4, 1-2) for the fifth year in a row and second straight time on a last-second field goal.

Montana State trailed 24-10 entering the fourth quarter, but rallied behind Travis Lulay, who rushed 18 times for 142 yards and two TDs and threw for 283 yards. Tramaine Murray caught seven passes for 119 yards, including a catch with four seconds remaining to set up Hastings’ kick.

Last year it was E.J. Cochrane kicking the game-winner from 44-yards out for Montana State’s 20-17 victory over Weber State.

Zach Hall had 35 carries for 173 yards and one TD for Weber.

Montana 32, Idaho State 10

Backup quarterback Cole Bergquist passed for 178 yards and two TDs and Lex Hilliard rushed for 142 yards and a TD to lead the Grizzlies (4-1, 2-0) past the Bengals (3-3, 1-2) in Pocatello, Idaho.

Bergquist, a redshirt freshman, started in place of injured Jason Washington.

Montana, ranked fourth in Division I-AA, shut out No. 25 Idaho State in the second half.

Boise St. 21, Portland St. 14

Lee Marks scored on a 7-yard run with 8:03 remaining as the Broncos (3-2) came from behind in the fourth quarter to beat the Vikings (3-3) and keep intact the nation’s longest home win streak.

Boise State has won 27 straight at home, tying Vanderbilt for the 18th longest ever in Division I play.

Sac State 41, Azusa Pacific 19

Ryan Mole carried 24 times for 202 yards and two touchdowns and the Hornets (2-4) scored 27 points in the second quarter en route to a victory over the Cougars (1-2) in Sacramento, Calif.
