Treasure Valley tops Sasquatch

Jena Ogawa had a goal and an assist as Treasure Valley’s women’s soccer team beat Community Colleges of Spokane 2-0 Saturday in a Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges matchup in Ontario, Ore.

Ogawa assisted on Missy Bentley’s goal in the 66th minute and then scored one in the 75th minute for TVCC (3-6-1, 10 points). The Sasquatch fell to 6-1-3, 21 points.

•Idaho finished with a depleted roster in Hawaii and paid for it.

Ending the game with just 15 players because of injuries and illnesses, Idaho (2-10, 0-1) extended its losing streak to eight games, falling to Hawaii 4-0 in Western Athletic Conference play late Friday in Honolulu.

Hawaii (4-6-2, 1-0) went into halftime up 2-0, Natasha Kai scoring in the 28th and 34th minutes.

Kai also got an assist on the game’s third goal, a 52nd-minute tally by Kelly McCloskey.

Taryn Fukuroku closed out the scoring in the 59th minute off Adria Campbell’s second assist of the day.

•Makayla Desjarlais made seven saves as North Idaho registered a 2-0 shutout over Western Nevada in Scenic West Athletic Conference action in Coeur d’Alene.

Desjarlais made six of her saves in the second half as the Wildcats pushed for an equalizer that never came.

Meghan Kahnle gave the Cardinals (10-6, 5-2) an early lead, scoring in the ninth minute off an assist from Kasey Knowles. Knowles sent the ball to a streaking Kahnle, who rounded Western Nevada goalkeeper Lisa Berryman and slotted home the opener.

NIC iced the game in the 87th minute. Kahnle dribbled down the field, when Berryman came out to meet her. The two collided and the ball popped loose to Deanna Zimmerman, who scored into the empty net.

Men’s soccer

Chad Thornton and Bryan Bourland each scored as Community Colleges of Spokane beat Treasure Valley 2-1 in NWAACC action in Ontario, Ore.

Thornton scored in the 18th minute and Bourland got the game-winning goal in the 64th minute for CCS (5-3-2, 17 points). Treasure Valley drops to 3-7, nine points.
